November 25, 1987 — February 10, 2006

View Video Tribute Zachariah Lawrence Zach Steffes, age 18, of Trufant, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2006 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident last Sunday. The son of Bruce L. & Raquel (Christensen) Steffes, he was born on Nov. 25, 1987 in Greenville. As a member of the Class of 2006, Zach looked forward to graduation this coming June and as part of his education at Lakeview, he was employed at Aggressive Tooling in Greenville. In adddition, he worked at Stumps Pizzeria in Trufant. An outgoing person, Zach enjoyed spending time with his friends. In his death he gave new life to several individuals by being an organ and tissue donor. Gone, but never forgotten. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce L. Steffes on Nov. 18, 1996. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Raquel & Robert Mullen; three brothers and a sister, Ben Steffes, Nathaniel Mullen, Kristen Mullen, and Bradly Mullen, all at home; his grandparents, Dave & Karol Steffes of Greenville, Cheri Rhodes of Belding, Deborah & Donald Phenix of Greenville, and DeWayne & Grace Christensen of Greenville; great grandparents, John & Dora Christensen, John Dann, all of Greenville, and Ethel Royce, of Belding; uncles and aunts, Todd Steffes, Gregg Cug Steffes, Shelly & Todd Blumberg, John & Laura Christensen, Joseph Phenix, Scott & Kinsey Christensen, Pearl Wabanimkee, and Dell & Julie Reed; many great aunts and uncles; several cousins; and many, many dear friends and classmates. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 at the New Life United Methodist Church, Lakeview (located just east of Lakeview on Highway M-46). The Rev. Dennis Johnson, pastor of the Greenville Bible Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at East Montcalm Cemetery, next to his father. Visitation is Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. Instead of flowers, those planning a memorial tribute are asked to consider contributions to a fund in Zachs name. (Checks payable to "Zach Steffes Memorial Fund").
