Winifred Doris Roddy, age 95, of Greenville, passed away early Friday morning, June 20, 2025 at Corewell Health-Greenville Hospital. The daughter of Fred & Clara (Phenix) Hock, she was born on December 11, 1929 in Ionia Township, Ionia County, Michigan.
Winifred’s father passed away before she was born and she was raised by Orie Carlsen and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1949 from Greenville Senior High School.
On June 30, 1951, at the Chapel in the Garden in Angola, Indiana, she married Ardeth Clifford “Art” Roddy and together they raised a daughter and enjoyed over 44 years of marriage until Art passed away on October 17, 1997.
Winfred’s first full-time job was as local switchboard operator in Greenville for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company and she retired from Wolverine Worldwide in Rockford. A life-long Detroit Tigers fan, she also enjoyed watching ice hockey. She was very skilled at quilting, sewing, and cross-stitching and needlework… and the items she crafted with love will long be treasured by those she gifted them to.
She enjoyed traveling to wherever the car took her, was an avid reader, collected swans, thimbles, salt and pepper shakers, and Santa’s. Winifred delighted in decorating her home for the Christmas Holiday.
