William Charles Zima, Sr., age 72, of Greenville, died Friday August 2, 2013 at Metron of Greenville due to complications from Parkinson's Disease, with his loving wife and family at his side.
The only child of Laddie & Florence (Shanks) Zima, he was born on January 3, 1941 in Cleveland Ohio. A veteran of the U.S. Army,, he served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany.
He married Donna Kuiper and after having five children together they later divorced. In 1989 he married Patricia Ross Hicks and gained three step-children.
In 2006 he retired as an Industrial Engineer in the tool and die industry. Mr. Zima was a High Priest and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Greenville.
Surviving are his loving wife, Pat Zima of Greenville; five children, Pastor William C. & Jenni Zima, Jr. of Burlington North Carolina, Regina & Lou Haller of Marietta Georgia, Jeff & Ann Zima of Mary Esther, Florida, Kimberly Zima, and Adam & Heather Zima, all of Largo, Florida; three step-children, Linda & Matt Rettig of Grand Rapids, William & Mandy Hicks of Holton, and David Hicks of St. Petersburg, Florida; eleven beautiful grandchildren; and his favorite aunt, Carol Toth of Parma, Ohio.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 10700 W. Carson City Road (M-57), Greenville, with a luncheon following the ceremony.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the Parkinson's Foundation of Michigan and Hospice of Michigan, for the dedicated and tender care of Mr. Zima during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation of Michigan.
