Bill passed away peacefully early in the morning of March 9, 2026, at the age of 84 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born in Aurora, Illinois on July 18, 1941, as the youngest of 3 children. He graduated from West Aurora High School where he played the trombone in the marching band, and then from Aurora College with a degree in accounting. He spent 6 years in the US Navy, 2 years active and 4 years reserve. He worked at Barber-Greene Company in Aurora as a Cost Accountant for many years and enjoyed walking to work and being able to stop at his parent’s house on the way back home. Bill also worked at Tyndale House Publishers in Wheaton, IL until his retirement and enjoyed seeing his daughter Cathy every day at the office.

Bill’s passion as a strong Christian was to live his life for the Lord as a servant to anyone that needed help. He was a very active member of the Aurora Advent Christian Church for over 60 years. In that time, he sang in the choir, served on the church board as well as the AC General Conference board, and helped with many other activities and needs of the church. Bill kept an active lifestyle. He was an avid bowler and golfer, played tennis and loved to take walks. Repairing cars and mowing lawns were a favorite pastime of his and he also loved going to parades, listening to Big Band music and gospel quartets.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents William D. Wrought Sr and Edna (Schmit), his sister Mary (Wrought) O’Brien, brother Donald Wrought, his in-laws Rev. R. Marshall Bezanson and Elsie (Pierce) Bezanson who were affectionately known as Mr. and Mrs. B at Aurora College. He sadly was preceded in death by his daughter Catherine (Cathy) Bergstrom. Bill is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Bambe) Wrought nee Bezanson, daughters Susan (Sue) LaRocca, Christine Taher, son Stephen William Wrought, sons-in-law Vincent LaRocca, Rashed Taher and Niels Bergstrom. He is also survived by his grandchildren Shawn, Kyle and Brandon Gustafson, Noah, Isaac and Aaron Taher, Madeline, Samantha and Caroline Bergstrom, Antonina, Kit and Morgan LaRocca and 10 loving great grandchildren. Bill is also survived by his sister-in-law Faith Read (Rod) and his brother-in-law Rev. Ray Bezanson (Jan).

He will be greatly missed by everyone, but we are comforted in knowing that Bill is now at peace and awaits the return of our Lord and Savior.

A memorial service will be held in Aurora, IL at a future date. Details will be posted on Facebook when they are finalized.
