VAN DYKE -- William Junior "Bill" Van Dyke, age 82 of Dorr, passed away on April 5, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side. The son of William Sr. & Alice Van Dyke, he was born on March 5, 1931 in Kalamazoo and was a proud veteran of the Korean War having served as a corporal in the U.S. Army. He was a charter member of Sandy Pines and a big University of Michigan fan. Bill retired from Pfizer after more than 24 years of dedicated service. On October 6, 1990 he married the love of his life, Joy Coykendall, who survives, in addition to his daughter, Georgann Van Dyke; his brothers, Douglas Van Dyke and Norm (Joan) Van Dyke of Portage; three grandchildren, Richard John Van Dyke, Jr., Alexandria Joy Van Dyke and her fiance Mark Bliss, and Summer Jade Van Dyke; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Van Dyke was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alice Van Dyke Sr. and sister-in-law Sue Van Dyke. Memorial services in celebration of the life of William will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10th, 2013 at Burnips United Methodist Church. Interment with military honors will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek.
