William Lamere

June 21, 1956 — February 9, 2022

William K. "Bill" LaMere, age 65, of Greenville, passed away late Tuesday evening, February 8, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. The son of Wallace Marvin & Judith Julianne (Saari), he was born on June 21, 1956 in Ishpeming of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and grew up in Champion, Michigan. On September 8, 1979, in Negaunee, he married Nancy Jean Siik, and together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage and raised two daughters. Bill worked at the service station in Champion, the sawmill, and the Tilden, Republic, and Empire mines. He put himself through Northern Michigan University, and in 1983, Bill and Nancy moved to Greenville when Bill began his 31-year career with Greenville Tool & Die. He retired in 2015 as the Head of the Quality Control and Inspection Department and the ISO 9001 Director. Bill remained a true Yooper, rooting for his beloved Green Bay Packers, and is a proud Packers' Shareholder! A skilled craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking, as well as hunting up the Grade, fishing, and photography. He was a savvy investor and enjoyed cruise vacations and gardening with the Grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald LaMere, and his wife Cindy; sister-in-law Patty Hemmila, and an infant brother, Phillip LaMere. Surviving are his wife, Nancy LaMere; their two daughters, Andrea & (Brian) Cowles, and Kate & (James) Butterworth; two cherished grandsons, Connor Cowles and Dawson Butterworth, all of Greenville; three brothers and two sisters, Robert & Lynn LaMere of Texas, Cheryl Hamel of Champion, Joseph & Barb LaMere of Washington, Candy LaMere of Greenville, and Jerry & M.J. LaMere of Indiana; siblings-in-law, David & Pam Siik and Peggy & Mike Pieper; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family is from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rev. Betsy Kamphuis, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate.
