William Johnson

William J. "Bill" Johnson, age 82, of Crystal, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 29, 2012 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice. The son of John L. & Hazel Ellen (Wing) Johnson, he was born on March 21, 1930 in North Star Township, Gratiot County. On November 12, 1948, in Alma, he married Jacquelyn L. Robertson and together they raised five daughters. Bill was a truck driver, farmer and a very talented union carpenter all of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister; and brother-in-law, Ruby and Don Sutton. Surviving are his wife, Jacquelyn Johnson; their daughters, Shirley Kay (Tom) Cleveland, Norma Jean (Jerry) Cleveland, Susan Lee (Dave) Cleveland, Nancy Ann (Noel) Mills and Sharon Louise (Brian) Hansen. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; his sisters, Thelma Smith, Genevieve (Al) Frisch, Mary (Clayton) Sanders, Joyce (Don) Hindenlang; and brothers, Keith (Shirley) Johnson, Ted Johnson, Dick (Julie) Johnson, Phil (Lily) Johnson, John (Kandy) Johnson; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a family remembrance service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Greenville.
