William Hamrick

Mr. William Ford Hamrick, age 78, of Grand Rapids, died Monday, March 6, 2006 at Metro Health Hospital, Grand Rapids. The son of Quincy Ford & Dolly (Harpold) Hamrick, he was born on Aug. 27, 1927 in Dunbar, West Virginia. A proud veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy. For many years, William worked at Toms Peanut Co. in Roanoke, Virginia. He later settled in Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Esther. Surviving are two sisters and a brother, Virginia L. Fife of Lansing, Jackie & Donald Ayres of Roanoke, VA, and George & Shirley Hamrick of Christiansburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday from the chapel of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Avenue N.E., Grand Rapids. Burial will follow privately at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Cemetery. Visitation is on Thursday from 12 Noon - 1:00 p.m. at the chapel. Instead of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Hamrick are suggested to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
