William L. Bill Foote, age 89, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, October 30, 2013 at his home under the loving care of his family and Odyssey Hospice. The son of Claude & Fern (Lowry) Foote, he was born on October 11, 1924 at Cedar Lake.
A proud veteran of World War II and a true patriot, Bill served with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a life member of the Cleveland-Wolverton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3794, where he had served as post commander, among other offices. He also was a member of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post No. 101.
He retired from Michigan Consolidated Gas Company where he worked as a repairman and enjoyed league bowling, camping, and traveling but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Those who knew him will remember his ability to live life to the fullest.
He was preceded in death his parents; his wife of 52 years, Phyllis (Porter) Foote; a son, William L. Billy Foote, Jr.; a sister, Mary Jane Peterman; and a grandchild, Billy Joe Foote.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie & Thomas Dean of Fenwick; a son, Kim C. Foote of Gowen; a daughter-in-law, Susan Foote of Sheridan; his grandchildren, Tiffany Armock, Bryan Armock, Molly Adell Krick, Koree Lowery Foote & Max Colby; two great grandchildren, Ayden Colby and Allayah Colby; two brothers, George Foote of Greenville and Mike & Marga Foote of Bishop, California; many nieces and nephews; and several friends, including Sylvia Rydahl of Greenville.
Visitation is from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Burial, with military honors jointly rendered by the U.S. Marine Corps, VFW Post 3794, and American Legion Post 101, will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
