William Decker

William Kenneth Decker, known to his family and friends as Ken, age 76, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 19, 2024. He was born June 17, 1947, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to the late Robert and Beverly (Benedict) Decker. Ken graduated from Portland High School with the class of 1965. In August of 1966, Ken enlisted and honorably served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked many years as an inspector for General Motors in Lansing until his retirement in 2008. Ken married Lee Ann Cain on August 6, 2005, in DeWitt, Michigan. Ken and Lee Ann loved being outside, gardening, and dirt track racing. He treasured his family and fishing with his best friend Jim. Ken also enjoyed mowing his yard with his beloved German Shepard’s close by. Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann Decker; children, Sheila, Shannon, and Kielee; his sister, Betty Russell; and brother’s, Robert and Russell Decker. He was loved by many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Carol and Brenda. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. In honor of his military service, a portion of his cremated remains will be buried at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
