Mr. Willard Charles Sampson, age 77, of Langston, passed away late Saturday evening, Sept. 29, 2007 at his home. The son of Willard Charles & Leona (Barrett) Sampson, he was born on May 27, 1930 in Detroit.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. In August of 1955, while on leave, he married Martha E. Glaser in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Willard retired from General Motors Cadillac Division where he worked as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the Pvt. John Lyskawa American Legion Post 7546, was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5492 in Livonia, and was an avid pool player. In Greenville he attended St. Charles Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Martha E. Sampson of Langston; their six children, Judy Sampson of Traverse City, Willard G. Bill Sampson of Detroit, Martha K. Sampson & Leonard Headley, and Lawrence Charles Sampson, all of Langston, Patricia Anne Sampson and Debra Lynn Sampson, both of Traverse City; and four grandchildren, Charles Torres, Lawrence Patrick Sampson, David Michael Headley, and Nathan Patrick Sampson-Phillips.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Greenville, with the Rosary being prayed prior to Mass at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Father Phil Salmonowicz, pastor of St. Charles-St. Margaret Parish, will preside.
