Wendy Jennie Mason, age 75, of Fenwick, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 26, 2025 at home surrounded by her family and under the care of U of M Health Sparrow Hospice. She was born on November 26, 1949 in Lansing, Michigan, and was a graduate of Ionia High School. On July 15, 1967 in Lyons, she married Edward Mason, and together they enjoyed almost fifty-eight years of marriage, and raised three children. In August of 2017, Wendy retired as the Food Service Director for the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office.
Wendy’s life can best be described by her faith, family, friends, flowers, and food. She created a beautiful and comfortable home and was known to invite salesmen and passersby to dinner. To know her was to love her, and everyone knew her. She delighted in any and everything about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Louis Mason; a sister, Pamela Struble; and a brother, David Prebble. Surviving is her husband, Edward Joe Mason; their two daughters, Rina Kimball (Scott), and Amy Brown (Carl); four grandchildren, Jordan Mason (Staci), Jennifer Schon (Brandon), Troy Crosby, and Hannah Badge (Mitchell); many great-grandchildren; five siblings, Carol Simon (Daniel), Martin Prebble (Nancy), Ron Mason (Deb), Paula Ferris (Gaylord), and Cassandra Kemp (David); her best friend Sheila Whalen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held from 1 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Log Cabin Inn Banquet Center (6484 E. Bluewater Hwy., Muir).
