Wendy Jean Cazier, age 57, of Gowen, passed away early Thursday morning, March 8, 2007 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice. The daughter of Olin & Betty (Cole) Gilbert, she was born on May 18, 1949 in Muskegon and was a graduate of Hesperia High School.
For 37 years Wendy worked at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company, where she was a member of UAW Local 137. An avid quilter, Wendy enjoyed her weekly Dear Jane Quilting Group and delighted in making quilts for children, especially for pre-mature infants and kids battling cancer and other diseases. Just days before her death, with the help of family and friends, she completed 90 quilts to be given to kids at DeVos Childrens Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, Olin Gilbert; three brothers, Gary VanDyke, Eric VanDyke, and Brian VanDyke; her parents-in-law, Rex & Mae Cazier; two sisters-in-law, Vicki Cazier and Alice Champlain; and a brother-in-law, Carl Cory.
Surviving are her husband, Warren C. Cazier of Gowen; her mother, Betty Gilbert of Gowen; her children, Gary & Gennifer Cazier of Fenwick and Kelly Cazier of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Jason Teegardin, Jordan Teegardin, Elizabeth Cazier, Nicole Cazier, Travis Rohn, Kyle Rohn, and Ashleigh Cazier; a brother, Raymond & Annette Gilbert of Hesperia; three brothers-in-law, Allan & Waynette Cazier of Greenville, Russell & Nancy Cazier of Sidney, and Keith Champlin; a sister-in-law, Carol Cory of Belding; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Greenville American Legion Hall, with a luncheon following. Honoring Wendys wishes, cremation has already taken place. Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of ones choice.
