Wayne Matthew Dingmon, age 81, of rural Stanton passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 9, 2008 at Pine River Health Care in St. Louis, under the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice. The son of Elba and Pearl (Bunker) Dingmon, he was born on January 15, 1927 in Jackson, Michigan. On Feb. 5, 1948, in Elkhart, Indiana, he married Nancy A. Jones. As a proud American, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. An avid outdoorsman, he found pleasure in fishing, taking walks, and feeding the birds. Mr. Dingmon enjoyed country music, especially, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard and George Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy A. (Jones) Dingmon on July 29, 2004; a son, Robert Dingmon; a granddaughter, Jami Kellogg, a son-in-law, Rocky Coleman; and siblings, Truman Dingmon, Betty Barnes and Cliff Dingmon.
Surviving are his children, Kathy Coleman of Stanton, James Dingmon of Jackson, and Cliff & Diane Dingmon of Parma; his grandchildren, Kevin & Mindy Dingmon, Shane & Candance Dingmon, Jim & Marci (Dingmon) Phillips, Allen & Cecil Coleman, and Jessica Coleman and her fianc Ryan Willm; great grandchildren, Brittany Dingmon, Hailey Phillips, Kegan and Austin Dingmon, Jacob, Joshua and Justin Kellogg, and Eden James Coleman; and a sister, Geri David.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008 from the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville.
