Wayne Russell Cattanach, age 67, passed away Thursday morning, October 10, 2019 at him home with his loving wife and children at his side, under the care Spectrum Health Hospice. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Warren Cattanach. Surviving are his devoted wife, Patricia Willey Cattanach; son, Matthew & Tansy Cattanach; daughter, Lyndi & John Keizer; and step daughter Lea & Angelina DeForte. Wayne was born in Sparta on January 20, 1952 and lived his life on his family's centennial farm in Casnovia, where he also hand built his post and beam home. Wayne's true passion was his love of sailing his 24' O'Day and fly fishing. Wayne was the author of the book "Handcrafting Bamboo Fly Rods", introducing many new rod makers to the art and construction of bamboo fly rods. He was a highly regarded teacher, contributor, innovator, and promoter in the craft. As one of the first organizers of the Eastern and Grayling Rod makers gatherings, Wayne left his imprint on everyone he met. He was a loving husband, father, and friend who will be dearly missed. Contributions may be directed to Wayne's family to help with his final expenses. Envelopes will be provided at the church. Visitation with family will be held from 3 - 4 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2019 at Unity of Muskegon, 2052 Bourdon Street, Muskegon, 49441, with a service starting at 4 pm., a potluck will follow. Cremation Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation and Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
