Vivian Margaret Carr, age 89, of Greenville, Michigan, formerly of Lakeview, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Corewell Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. After a courageous journey with dementia, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her children.
The daughter of Ralph & Bernice (King) Scofield, she was born on June 17, 1936 in Greenville, had worked at the former Ore-Ida Foods plant in Greenville and Corduroy Rubber Company in Grand Rapids. She loved playing bingo and cherished her beloved fur baby, Lucky. And even through the challenges of dementia, her deep love for her children and grandchildren never faded.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Theordore Sleight and Kurt Sleight; the father of her children, Robert Sleight; a husband, Howard Carr; a sister, Marion Roberts; a brother, Clarence Scofield; and a granddaughter, Gail Wabich; and a grandson, Tyler “Ty’ Kalnins.
Surviving are her children, Ralph & Betty Sleight of Trufant, Debra Wabich of Oak Island, North Carolina, Sue Sleight of Edmore, and Robin Kalnins & Ken Evans of Greenville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Vivian’s special caregivers, Theresa Henry and Anna Kalnins, for their love and attention.
Private family services will be held. Instead of flowers, contributions in Vivian’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
