Vitolds Cybulskis, 85, passed away Friday, March 15, 2019 a Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. He was born in Nautreni, Latvia on January 4, 1934 to Viktors & Izabella Cybulskis.
He fled Latvija in 1944, and spent several years in displaced persons camps in Germany, primarily Ansbach. He emigrated to the US in 1949 aboard the USS General Hershey. He worked as a sharecropper on a tobacco farm in Dundas, Virginia before moving to Grand Rapids in 1951, when he was immediately employed upon arrival. He worked a variety of factory jobs, but his favorite was driving a truck. Vitolds sacrificed his education to support his family. He served in the US Army on a tour of duty in West Germany in the early 1950s. He married the love of his life, Chesa, in 1959. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Aglona Latvian Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Viktors and Izabella; sister, Anna; and son, Viktor. He leaves behind to cherish his memory wife, Chesa; son, Eddie & Robyn; daughter, Lita; grandchildren, Roger, Dallan, and Jason; great-grandchildren, Brianna, and Zach; siblings, Theresa Vavere, Peter, Aggie Vardos, Mary Telgenhof, John, and George; and many nieces and nephews.
A Rosary service will be said on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 520 Myrtle St NW, Grand Rapids, 49504.
