Virginia Wirick

Virginia Maxine Wirick, age 87, of Sand Lake passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at her home under the care of loving family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of Delbert & Margaret (Eddy) Herd, she was born on April 4th, 1932 in West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Bruce Davie and James Davie; a brother, Butch Herd; two sisters, Martha Jean Thomas and Patricia Edwards; and a grandson, Jackson Delbert Petoskey. Surviving are her son and daughter-in law (whom she lived with), Benjamin & Robin Wirick; a daughter Vivian & Victor Petoskey-Jackson; daughter-in-law, Kathy Davie; thirteen grandchildren, Heather Kaczanowski, Heidi (Kirk) Kahner, Nick (Kelly) Wirick, Victoria Wirick, Raelynn Wirick, Kyle (Jody) Davie, Summer (Danny) Gayle, Jayme (Cory) Chamberlin, Jessica (Kyle) Gerwels, James Eric (Brittany) Davie, Robert (Lisa) Davie, Tammy (Dave) Sevey, and Bruce Davie Jr.; twenty-seven great-grandchildren ; four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Dwight Herd; four sisters, Rose Shape, Janet Watkins, Juanita Ely, and Ruthann Tallman. Virginia worked at the Serendipity Restaurant and later at the House of Flavors. She was a wonderful cook and loved to pass on her joy of cooking to her family. We will all miss her pumpkin pies that she made from butternut squash, her homemade potato soup, and fried chicken.
