Virginia Lucile “Ginny” Lincoln, age 98, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at her home under the loving care of her family and Corewell Health Hospice. One of nine children born to Hugh D. & Lillian Josephine (Sass) Silverthorn, she was born on November 12, 1925 in Greenville and was a 1944 graduate of Greenville High School.
On February 20, 1948, at the United Methodist parsonage in Greenville, she married Robert Wayne Lincoln and together they raised three sons and enjoyed almost 67 years of marriage until Bob passed away on December 20, 2014.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Ginny also worked outside the home in a number of jobs over the years, retiring from the former United Memorial Hospital where she worked as a physical therapy assistant. An avid reader of the Bible and other books, Ginny also enjoyed music, had played the piano and organ, and even golfed and participated in league bowling. Raised in the Methodist church, Ginny later attended the Church of Christ and Living Faith Family Church. Above all, Ginny delighted in time spent with her family and valued the close relationship she had with her brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert W. “Bob” Lincoln; an infant daughter, Laurie Elizabeth Lincoln; and a daughter-in-law, Donna M. Lincoln; four sisters, Donna Krampe, Dorothy Williams, Frances Merren, and Marjorie Ingersoll; and four brothers, Bud Silverthorne, Robert Silverthorne, Harry Silverthorne, and Ethan F. Silverthorne.
Surviving are her three sons, Phillip & Debbie Lincoln of Gowen, Randy & Linda Lincoln of Greenville, and Curtis & Mary Lincoln of Mattawan; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Ashley Baptist Church, 10463 Belding Road (west of the M-44 and M-91 intersection on M-44), Belding where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Rev. Dr. David A. Oliver, pastor of Ashley Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
