Virgil L. Keifer of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, April 5, 2024. He was able to celebrate his 93rd birthday on January 29, 2024 and his 73rd wedding anniversary to the love of his life, Elaine (Boney) on March 25, 2024. He was an avid race car driver in his younger years, racing at many different tracks including Galesburg Speedway.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Elaine Keifer; daughters, Diana Payne and Linda McNett; son, Ronald Keifer; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great grandchildren, with another one due in October 2024; daughter-in-law, Tina Keifer; sister, Barbara Amadeo; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Virgil was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Keifer; son, David Keifer; parents, William and Dorothy Keifer; brothers, Ernest, Kenneth, William, and Greg; sisters, Betty Lou, Willodene, Geraldine, Loretta, and Eleanor; and son-in-law, James Payne.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Prairie View County Park, 899 East U Avenue, Vicksburg, MI 49097 at the Hill Top Shelter #3. The family will greet attendees beginning at 9:00 am until the prayer service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
