Viola Hattie Herroon, age 93, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at her home under the loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice. The daughter of Fred F. & Hattie Eva (Manzer) Barringer, she was born on August 9, 1919, in Troy Township, Newaygo County. On November 19, 1938, in Maumee, Ohio, she married Raymond J. Herroon and together they enjoyed sixty-six years of marriage and raised six children. A devoted wife and mother, Viola also worked outside the home at Wolverine World Wide in Rockford and retired after 17 years of service. She enjoyed basket making, knitting, and crocheting, and was a faithful member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond J. Herroon, on February 26, 2005; two sons, Frank Jack Herroon on July 12, 2002 and Richard Elmer Herroon on October 2, 2012; seven grandchildren, Todd M. Edwards Herroon, Johnathan J. DeGood, Donald Herroon, Brandy Herroon, Patti Herroon, Jussie Mary DeGood and Angie Carr DeGood; four sisters, Mable Baker, Ethel Fountain, Mae Vamos, and Margaret Human; and four brothers, John Barringer, Herbert Barringer, Luey Barringer and George Barringer. Surviving are her children, Violet Cross of Six Lakes, Ethel & Dan DeGood, Barb & Dennis Day, Ray John Butch & Virginia Herroon; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Herroon, all of Greenville; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
