Vincent Paul Smyth, age 73, of Six Lakes, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at his home of cancer.
The son of Edward and Joyce (Nephew) Smyth, he was born on September 20, 1942 in Detroit. On June 27, 1963 in Georgia, he married Theresa Paulett Umlah. Vincent proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and for 40 years he owned Leading Heating, and served Montcalm County and the surrounding area for over 38 of those years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 43 years, Theresa on October 20, 2005; a granddaughter, Sara Dobbrastine on July 25, 2009; and a grandson, Dustin Owens in January 1988.
Surviving are his children, Trina Brigham of Morley, Tina McGraw of Ionia, Elizabeth Smyth of Alma, Kathryn & Kerry Dobbrastine of Six Lakes, Vincent P. Smyth, Jr. of Texas, and Jerry Smyth of Six Lakes; twenty-five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Honoring his wishes, Vincent will be laid to rest next to his late wife during private committal services which will be held at the end of June at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes.
