Vickie Ramirez

March 19, 1955 — November 16, 2020

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Vickie Mari Ramirez, our loving, free-spirited Mother, Partner, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend to all whose lives she touched on Monday, November 16, 2020. Vickie Mari Ramirez, age 65, of Grant, was born on March 19, 1955, in Midland, to Glen & Ann (Kangas) Laramie. She graduated from Meridian High School and took a job in a local bakery. This jumpstarted a creative career in cake decorating for which she won many accolades. Vickie was raised to work hard for what she wanted, this determination led to owning her own bakery, The Village Bake Shoppe in Ravenna, MI. She was renowned for her cake decorating and the best donuts ever made. After selling the bakery she continued working in management and food services for Meijer. Prior to retirement, she worked as food safety manager for Blarney Castle Oil Company. Vickie loved her Diet Coke, cooking, plants and cats. It was her family she loved fiercely and most of all. She was creative and enjoyed bringing her visions to life as gifts for family and friends. She believed in helping others grow and made sure they knew they were valued. For this she was a beloved boss everywhere she worked. We will remember her smile, her long red hair, her warmth, her unwavering acceptance, and feistiness. She has made a difference in the lives of many. Peace, man! Survivors include her partner in life and love, Michael Billingsley; loving children Selina (Kolleen) Ramirez and J.R. (Tamara) Ramirez. She will be sorely missed by her siblings David Laramie, Renee Forsyth, Denis (Shelley) Laramie, Dan (Tina) Laramie and Kristin (Glenn) Zubler. Vickie loved her grandchildren Avery Teunnisen, Ariana DeBonte and Jayce Ramirez with a childlike heart. She also had a soft spot for all her granddoggies; especially Dawber Lou. Vickie will be mourned by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Ann Laramie; Brother-in-Law Scott Forsyth. There will be a private family ceremony. We plan to have a Celebration of Life when we can safely gather and will provide details at a later time. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, 616-452-3006.
