Mrs. Verna A. House, age 89, of rural Cedar Springs, passed away Thursday evening, April 19, 2007 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-Kelsey Campus in Lakeview. The daughter of Charles E. & Maggie (McDonald) Hill, she was born on December 11, 1917 in Winfield Township.
She grew up in the Coral-Sand Lake area and was a 1937 graduate of Sand Lake High School. On Oct. 22, 1938, in South Bend, Indiana, she married Everett C. House. A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing bingo, and tending her flower gardens. She was also a long time member of the Danish Sisterhood Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty years, Everett Zeb House on Nov. 6, 1998; a son, Melvin House; a grandson, Art Lambertson, Jr.; and a sister, Alvina Albertson.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Lyle & Carol House of rural Cedar Springs, and Paul & Beverly House of Gowen; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia & Art Lambertson of Newaygo; ten grandchildren, John, Tim, Ann, Brent, Kenneth, Leslie, Delene, Tammy, Ann, and Aaron; fourteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren (with the fifth on the way); and a nephew, Bill Albertson.
