Vera Anne Mihlfeld, age 84, of Greenville, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Metron of Greenville. The daughter of Bertrum & Nellie (Butler) Lansing, she was born on March 27, 1932 in Dearborn. On August 16, 1952, also in Dearborn, she married Lester Lyle Mihlfeld and together they raised three children and enjoyed almost 64 years of marriage. Vera and Lyle lived in Walled Lake for many years where Vera worked as the executive secretary for the assistant superintendant at Walled Lake Consolidated School District. In retirement they enjoyed spending summers on their boat in Muskegon, winters in Leesburg, Florida, and moved to Greenville in 2005 to be closer to their family where they attended Greenville Community Church. Vera was a gifted vocalist and had been a member of the Oakland County Chapter of the Sweet Adeline's and her church choir. She also enjoyed square dancing and traveling... having visited all 50 states and Europe with Lyle. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Joyce Lansing, Lucille Courtney, and Mary Olsen; and a brother, Bert Lansing. Surviving are her husband, Lyle Mihlfeld; three children, Timothy Mihlfeld & Cindy Novak of Belding, Thomas & Laura Mihlfeld of Miami, Florida, and Dr. Tammy Brodie & Rod James of Greenville; a sister, Ruth & Ben Romans of Howell; a sister-in-law, Vinita Mihlfeld of Indiana; her dearly loved grandchildren, Shaun Brodie, Jabob Brodie, Joshua Brodie and his fiancee, Trang Do, Benjamin Brodie and his fiancee, Megan Shinderle, Timothy Mihlfeld, Jr., Ian Zoerman, and Luke Mihlfeld; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family is from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rev. R. Mark Shaw, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
