With much love and remembrance, the Hysell Family announces the passing of Valerie Jean Hysell on October 8, 2026 in her home.

Born on July 1, 1936 to Miner and Valerie Hysell in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Val graduated from Ottawa Hills High School and led a life dedicated to her family and her unconditional love of animals. Alongside her late husband, Richard Hysell, Valerie was a frequent volunteer at Crash's Landing Special Needs Cat Shelter. She opened her home up to 2 dogs and 5 cats throughout the years, as well made many donations to local animal shelters.

Valerie is preceded in death by her parents Miner and Valerie Hysell, her sister Kathryn Bultman, and her doting husband Richard Hysell. She is survived by her children Kimberly Hysell, Michael (Diane) Hysell, and Chris Hysell, as well as her brother Michael VanderVeen and all her nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will take place at a later time.
