Tommy Lee Hill, age 60, of Kalamazoo, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. The son of Charles William & Aileen Delores (Thomas) Hill, he was born on June 26, 1959.
Tommy honorably served in the U.S. Navy for 19 1/2 years, attaining the rank of a non-commissioned officer as a Mess Management Specialist First Class and proudly served during the Vietnam and the Persian Gulfconflicts. His second career was spent with the United States Postal Service until poor health prevented him from working at the post office.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Hill; and four brothers, William Hill, Edward Hill, Larry Hill, and Charles Hill. Surviving are his daughter, Katherine Hill & Mark Knepler of Bluford, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Mark Knepler III, Herschel Hill, Peyton Hill, Ashley Knepler, Emma Hill, Ryan Knepler, and Kinsley Knepler; a sister, Sharon & John Charlier; two brothers, Robert Hill and Harold Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Committal services, with full military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta. Honoring Tommy's wishes, cremation has taken place.
