Tommie Thomas

Tommie James Thomas, age 58, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2017. The son of Samuel & Veola (King) Thomas, he was born on March 22, 1959 in Flint. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Veola; and siblings, Lottie, Wilma, Deborah, Tonya, Wilbert, Timothy, LesPaul, and Paul Lester. Tommie is Survived by his Wife and best friend, Nancy Thomas; children, Gerri Lynn (Kelvin) Richardson, Jami (Bill) Werkema, and Amber (Antonio) Ortiz; grandchildren, Aaron Kemp, Kelvin Richardson Jr., Tianna Richardson, Trinity Werkema, Travis Werkema, and Antonio Ortiz Jr.; sisters, Betty Jean, Jacqueline, Tonie Jean, and Romi Jean; as well as many other loving niece's, nephews, and family. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Veola; and siblings, Lottie, Wilma, Deborah, Tonya, Wilbert, Timothy, LesPaul, and Paul Lester. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Dorr Baptist Church, 1504 142nd. Ave., Dorr, where a repast will be held after the service. For those that can not attend at that time, an additional service will also be held at 6:00 p.m. on November 11, 2017 at the New Covenant Community Church, 5160 Breton Rd. S.E., Kentwood.
