Toby Rood

Toby Lynn Rood, age 67, of Coral, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 19th, 2023. He was surrounded by the most important people in his life: his daughters, Aubrey and Alexandra. Over the course of his life, Toby mastered many different artistic mediums, starting with hand-lettering and pinstriping vehicles, boats, and eventually custom signage. He started his own commercial sign shop, specializing in neon, vinyl and paint for anything and everything. Toby eventually followed in his father's footsteps and became a long-haul truck driver, and was an owner-operator for many years. He enjoyed bringing his girls on the road with him whenever he could, making memories in every corner of the country. Toby was an amazing cook and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on anything with wheels: cars, trucks, go carts and, his all time favorite, motorcycles. He was an avid rider, making many trips across the country with others who shared his passion. Toby is survived by his daughters, Aubrey (Cam Thomas) and Alexandra (Will McCoy), and his grandchildren, Hank (Aubrey) and Avery (Alexandra), as well as his bonus grandchildren, Emmett (McCoy) and Jamie (McCoy). Cremation has taken place and no memorial services will be held at this time.Toby's family asks you to honor his memory by having a steak and potatoes dinner with a salad, a Bloody Mary brunch, or taking a long motorcycle ride to your favorite place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, as the family processes this sudden tragedy. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
