Obituary

Thomas Alan Johnson Sr., age 66, of Greenville, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Corewell Health Greenville. He was born April 24, 1960, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Olie Elmer Johnson and Anna Juliet (Tracy) Harris.

Tom began his career working with asbestos for many years before becoming an electrician in the building and construction trades — a trade he took real pride in and never quite stopped doing, even off the clock. He was a jack of all trades, the kind of man who could fix what you brought him and then some. He loved music, the outdoors, and anything with a little adventure in it.

Tom was the life of the party — and more than that, he was the reason there was a party. He loved deep and he loved many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Albert.

Tom is survived by his children, Tommy, Chris, Jodi, Bo and TJ; four grandchildren; his sister, Denise, and her husband, Don Roesly; his brothers, Oliver, and his wife, Michele Johnson, Harmon Keen, Donny Keen, Mike Towers and Mike and his wife, Jenny Cordray. He is also survived by many more siblings, step-siblings, and children he took in as his own. Tom never used the words "step" or "half," and neither will we — if you were his, you were his.

In keeping with how Tom lived, there will be no funeral. Instead, his family invites you to two celebrations of his life, both on Saturday, August 15, 2026. You are welcome at either one, or both.

Beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the Wayward Sons Motorcycle Club, 9900 21 Mile Road N.E., Sand Lake, Michigan… a catered, low-key afternoon to gather, share stories, and remember everything Tom brought to this world.

Beginning at 12:00 Noon, also on Saturday August 15, 2026 at 5469 Long Lake Road, Belding, Michigan, and carrying on well into the night… live music from several bands, good food, and a good time for everyone. Tom would have wanted the party to keep going.
