Thomas Joseph Hansen, age 62, of Greenville, formerly of Midland, passed away Monday morning, April 4, 2011 at home in Greenville. The son of Hazel M. (Smith) & Joseph Norton Hansen, he was born on May 2, 1948 in Greenville. Following his graduation from Greenville High School in 1966, Tom attended Michigan State University before beginning his lifes work in the building trades. In 1971 he started as an apprentice plumber with H&H Plumbing & Heating, then from 1972 to 1979 he worked for Collinson Construction Company in Midland, before moving on to Three Rivers Construction Company, also in Midland, where for the next twenty years he rose thru the ranks to eventually become Chairman of the Board, C.E.O., and Treasurer. Tom had sat on the State of Michigan Construction Safety Commission, served two terms as president of the local chapter of the Associated Builders & Contractors, and had been a member of the Elks, Eagles, and Moose lodges. Following the death of his father, Joseph Joe Hansen on Feb. 2, 2007, Tom returned to Greenville. Surviving are his mother, Hazel M. Hansen of Greenville; three sons, Joseph & Tina Hansen of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jacob Hansen of Midland, and James Hansen of Alma; five grandchildren, Taylor Hansen, Alek Hansen, Victoria Hansen, Sophia Hansen, and Thomas Hansen; a sister, Cindy Hansen, a niece, Madeleline Hansen McSwain; special family friend, Sharon McSwain, all of Ormond Beach, Florida; and very special cousins, Terri & Scott Luce and Jill & Marty Engel, all of Greenville. Honoring his wishes, private family services will be held at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Greenville, with Father Michael F. Cilibraise of St. Charles Catholic Church officiating. Burial will take place at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
