Thomas E. Dwyer, age 70, of Lansing, passed away early Monday morning, June 14, 2021 at his home under the loving care of his family and hospice. The son of Raymond Jeremiah & Joanne Carol (Bauer) Dwyer, he was born on July 20, 1950 in Lansing, Michigan.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam war, Thomas served in the United States Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following his discharge, he began working as a union electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Thomas retired when disabilities from his Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam prevented him from working. On November 11, 2000, he married Leslie Ann (Walczak) Martin. Thomas adamantly battled cancer for nearly 10 years.
He was a family man. His greatest attributes in life were his wife, four daughters, and his most prized possession included his twenty grandchildren. Thomas was meticulous in all his efforts and aspects of his life with great effort and intention. Thomas was a devout patriot in every aspect and the love for his country was unprecedented. Thomas led his life with passion and his spirit showed high faith and respect for the Bible and the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Joanne Dwyer of Sidney; and a nephew, Joel Gum of Luther. Surviving are his wife, Leslie Dwyer of Lansing; children, Shelly & Rick Deneau of Ionia, Jaimie & Bryce Litwiller of Michigan, Jinny & Paul Carson of Lansing, Alice & Santiago Lopez of Hanover, Joseph Martin of Williamston, and Michele Martin of Owosso; grandchildren, Leah, Esther, Ruth, Anna, Ezra, Emma, Abigail, Joseph, Jesse, Wesley, Adelaide, Mariah, Carter, Samuel, Lily, Genevieve, Georgia, Grant, Ryan and Aliana; two sisters, Carolyn Hutton of Myrtle Beach and Janice Zay of Ludington; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Beth Haven Baptist Church, 1158 W. Carson City Road (M-57), Sheridan, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, with the Rev. Kevin Crowell, pastor of Beth Haven Baptist Church, officiating. Committal services, with military honors, are at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly.
