Theola Irene Jewell, age 91, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at her home. The daughter of Leo Vern & Erma (Chatterton) Bannister, she was born on October 28, 1920 in Belding. On August 13, 1939, in Belding, she married Robert O. Jewell and together they enjoyed 56 years of marriage and raised three children. For many years Theola was a poll worker at the voting precincts in Belding and Greenville, had worked at Jolly Kids in Belding, K-Mart in Greenville, and most recently at Quality Cleaners in downtown Greenville. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5065 in Sheridan, was a member of Greenville Community Church, and in recent years was a member of the Greenville Area Singles. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert W. "Bob" Jewell on June 4, 1993; and by her husband, Robert O. "Bob" Jewell on Dec. 21, 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley McCain of Gowen, and Diane Moore of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Carole Jewell of Greenville; a brother, Donald Bannister of Belding; her grandchildren, Sherri Owen of Grand Rapids, Steven Wright of Florida, Scott Jewell of Wyoming, Aaron McCain of Gowen, Veronica (Tim) Seaman of Gowen, Carey (Aaron) Wagg of Greenville, Roxanne Moore of Lakeview, Bobby Cozort of Greenville, Billie Moore of Sparta, Misty Moore of Lakeview, Fawn (Chris) Daquila of Greenville, Joshua (Cinnamon) Kent of Stanton, and Kotesha Husted of Greenville; twenty-five great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren. Visitation is Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, and on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at Greenville Community Church, 6596 Vining Road, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Joel Heron will officiate and burial will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
