Thelma M. Goodwin, age 100, of Greenville, passed away early Thursday morning, February 26, 2015 at Metron of Belding. The daughter of Charles & Lucinda (Dickinson) Waldron, she was born on June 5, 1914 in Greenville.
Thelma was a life time resident of Greenville, and a founding member of the Greenville Bible Methodist Church (formerly the Wesleyan Pilgrim Church). She loved to write poetry, and was known for her wonderful poems. Thelma was also skilled in the art of sewing and crocheting.
In September of 1934, she married the love of her life, Wilbur Goodwin, and together they raised their five children and enjoyed 42 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur; a daughter, Naomi Rupert; son-in-law, Art Buckley; a daughter-in-law, Rose Goodwin; a granddaughter, Kayla Buckley; and a great-granddaughter, Melissa.
Thelma was a wonderful loving Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, and Sister. She will be missed by her sons; Gilbert (Joan) Goodwin of California; David Goodwin of Greenville; Daniel Goodwin of Rockford; and daughter Alice Buckley of Ovid. Also surviving are a half sister, Maxine Rhoads; eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Greenville Bible Methodist Church.
