Suzanne Surrell

Suzanne Marie Surrell, age 59, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Sheridan and Stanton area, passed away at her home. The daughter of Gerald Lee & Doris Marie (Tanner) Surrell, she was born on June 24, 1961 in Lynwood, California and was a 1980 graduate of Central Montcalm High School. She then attended Montcalm Community College, where she was part of the first graduating class from the Registered Nurse program. Suzie loved her nursing career and made it her life's work, first working in hospitals, then nursing homes, for a county health department, and then with a federal agency before transitioning over to the United States Postal Service, where she worked for over 30 years as a nurse administrator... first in the Greater Grand Rapids District, and most recently for Great Lakes District (covering five states). She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Surrell on September 4, 2020. Surviving are her mother and step-father, Doris & Ken Pellow of Sheridan; her step-mother, Diana Surrell; step-sister, Barbara Pellow; step-brother, Ken Pellow, Jr.; an aunt, Janet & Jerry Waldorf; many cousins and dear friends; and her two cats. Graveside committal services are at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, 8690 Storey Road (M-91), Belding, with the Rev. Jeff Williams, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Greenville, officiating. Instead of flowers, Suzie would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Montcalm Community College to be used for the nursing program.
