Susan E. Alfred

Susan Eudora (Davidson) Alfred, age 84, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She was born September 18, 1940, in Detroit, MI, to the late Ervin and Gladys (Eckrose) Davidson. Susan graduated from Mackenzie High School with the class of 1958. She married James Thomas Alexander in 1958, and had two daughters, Sheri and Wendi. After her divorce, Susan married Loren Raymond Alfred in Oscoda, MI on July 12, 1986. They celebrated 18 years of marriage together before Loren passed away on September 23, 2004.

Susan thoroughly enjoyed being a “granny” and attended every school performance, horse show and sporting event she possibly could in support of her 4 grandchildren. She had a life long love of gardening, home decorating and interior design and her many treasured dogs.

Survivors include her two daughters, Wendi and David (Alexander) McCausey and Sheri and Richard (Alexander) Welsh; and grandchildren, Alexis (Welsh) and Luke Willmore, Spencer and Alisha Welsh, Maryn McCausey and Melia McCausey.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Loren.

Per Susan’s wishes cremation has taken place and joined together again with Loren at Fort Custer National Cemetery. A memorial service is being planned for a later date and details will be announced as soon as they become available.
