Steven O'Connor

December 28, 1958 — October 17, 2021

Steve O'Connor, 62, of Kentwood, passed away on Sunday morning, October 17, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family after a short but courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. A proud Ferris State University Alumni, Steve met the love of his life on campus before graduating and beginning his successful career in accounting. He worked hard to build a life he could be proud of while instilling in his children the importance of putting your family first, showing genuine interest in others, and being a considerate and kind person. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, celebrating his children's successes in life, doting on his grand children, flying RC model airplanes, and golfing. He was a consummate fireball that knew how to make every trip and family adventure just a little more fun. He remained close with many of his friends from high school throughout all of life's chapters and made many more friends along the way, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He truly had a way of making everyone who interacted with him feel special and appreciated. Steve is survived by his wife, Kimberley O'Connor; children, Amber Soler (Jonathan Soler), Rachel Pendergrass (Joseph Pendergrass), Jessica O'Connor (Adin Nuhagic), and Ryan O'Connor; grandchildren, Edin Nuhagic, Jackson Soler, Jameson Soler, Emir Nuhagic, and Avery Pendergrass; brother, Timothy O'Connor; and many other deeply loved extended family members. Steve was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. An open house to celebrate Steve's life will take place on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Viewpond Banquet Hall, 1665 Viewpond Dr. SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, (616) 452-3006.
