Steven A. Mozer, age 71, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 25, 2024. He was born on January 7, 1953, in Boston, MA and is preceded in death by his parents, William and Theresa (Bartlett) Mozer along with his sister, Linda Janssens. He is survived by his wife Linda (Short.) Steven and Linda married on May 17, 2012 and enjoyed their life together for over 30 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Tanya (David) Morales and Jaime Mozer, and his grandchildren Selena (Johnathan) Vaughan, Savannah (Luuc) Grondstra and Samuel Morales along with three great-grandchildren, Willa, Arwen and Lana. Steven is also survived by his siblings, William F. Mozer of Wisconsin, Diane Mozer of Florida and Richard Mozer of Massachusetts.
Steven proudly served his country in the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Sergeant from 1975-1979. For 20 years, he worked passionately for Paws With A Cause as a Certified Dog Trainer and in the Research and Development Department designing specialized equipment for service dogs and their owners. Steven opened his own business designing equipment for disabled people and their service dogs. Stevens proudest work was being asked to design the cape for George H.W. Bush’s service dog, Sully. He was very dedicated to his work and loved what he did. Steven was especially proud of his Standard Poodles. He and Linda enjoyed taking their dogs out on the town, particularly to Art Prize downtown Grand Rapids where children loved to pet and be photographed with the beautiful poodles. Every afternoon, for fourteen years he played frisbees with their poodles as he was very dedicated to their dogs health and well-being. Steve was a member and officer of the Grand Rapids Harmonica Club.
Steven enjoyed travel, visiting his family in Massachusetts every two years and loved his wife, family, daughters and grandchildren immensely.
