Steven M. Knapp was a loving fiance, son, brother and friend He left this world suddenly on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the age of 50. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Steve came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
He was born to Charles & Caroline (Hyer) Knapp on October 15, 1971 in Midland and graduated from Midland High School, class of 1989. Steve was always so compassionate and empathetic. Growing up he was known to be kind when others weren't and stood up for the underdog. He loved perfecting his skateboarding talents, he went against all social 'norms' and expressed himself in many creative avenues.
Music coursed through Steve's veins and spoke to his soul. It helped him get through tough times, would be a reminder of great times, and provided a creative outlet his talents needed. He was an amazing self-taught drummer for bands such as Fota Morgana, Morbid Fear, Heropig, and Tempermetal. Steve had an incredible ability to put pencil or paint brush to paper/canvas and produce breathtaking results.
Steve enjoyed playing hockey for nine years and was a passionate Detroit Red Wings fan. He watched every game on TV and attended as many games as possible, he was the sixth man on the ice. He would become your life-long friend as soon as you start talking hockey!
Steve had many demons he worked hard and tirelessly to slay throughout his life, but at his core, he loved and was loved so hard by many friends and family and he touched lives in ways we may never know. We are all better for having experienced and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his fiancee: Stephanie Wahl; best buddy (dog): Zander; parents: Charles (Onalee) Knapp; siblings: Sherri (Don) Andenno, Susan Knapp, Lisa (David) Warren, Stephanie (Marc) Ker, and Ondi Donley; uncle: Norman Knapp; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
