A kind and gentle man left us early in the morning on March 21, 2022.
STEPHEN FRANCIS SCHUESLER was born on October 23, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, to Kenneth & Dorothy Schuesler (both deceased). He grew up in Dearborn, Michigan with his brother Patrick (deceased), and his sister, Sandra Wallace, now of California. He graduated from the University of Detroit, then from the University of Michigan with a masters in French. He was advancing on his PhD in French when he met his future life partner of 54 years, Margaret Graham. He finally admitted that he was losing interest in French and wanted to pursue being a lawyer. With Maggie's encouragement he graduated with a JD from U of M. They moved from Ann Arbor to East Lansing where Steve continued his legal career, finally as an Assistant Attorney General for almost 30 years. Their two sons, Patrick and Daniel, blessed them with wonderful daughters-in-law, Lisa and Christie, and four perfect grandchildren, Elaina and Shelton, Marlee and Campbell.
Steve was an avid bicyclist, a member of the Tri-County Bicycle Assoc., where he developed many wonderful friendships. He also participated in at least 17 DALMAC rides.
When Steve could still feel comfortable wearing waders and navigating rivers and streams, he spent many hours fishing for salmon or any other big fish.
Steve did not want a funeral or a fuss. A casual gathering of friends and family is being planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to a charity of your choice.
Ride on and happy fishing kind and gentle Steve.
