Sonya Meangwie

Sonya Sue Meangwie, age 50, of Wyoming, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 8, 2023. She was born December 20, 1972, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Margaret Ann Meangwie. Sonya graduated from Central High School with the class of 1991. Sonya was a fierce and loving mother who always protected her children and grandchildren and was the heart of the family. She met the love of her life at 32 and spent the rest of her years living her true self. She loved to travel, loved sports, and movies. She loved to laugh and had the best laugh. She will be so missed by all as she truly was one of a kind and had the best heart. Survivors include her wife, Samantha Meert; six children, Taylor Marie Meangwie, Rayna Marie Ashley, Kayla Marie Carter, Myia Malisia Monet Smith, Jeffery Lee McKinney Jr., and Jamie Leigh McKinney; seven grandchildren, Parker, Aaron, Selin, Kaje, Zy'Aire, Ajdin, Casimir; dad, Ronald Isenhart; and many siblings, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret and her son, James Patrick McKinney. Per her wishes cremation has taken place and private family services were held.
