Shirley Jean Wagner

Shirley Jean Wagner, age 94, of Sheridan, Michigan passed away at Golden Life Assisted Living in Greenville on Thursday, May 14, 2026. The daughter of Sylvester Burgess & Grace Francis (Ogden) Hose, she was born on May 4, 1932 at Houghton Lake, Michigan. On June 11, 1949 in Auburn, Indiana, she married Chris Dewayne Wagner and together, they enjoyed over sixty-nine years of marriage and raised three sons.

Shirley was a longtime resident of the Sheridan area and enjoyed bowling, tending to her flower garden, and feeding her beloved wild birds. Shirley loved to read and encouraged others to read as well.

Shirley loved to travel and her family took many trips; Claybanks Township Park on Lake Michigan was the family's second home in the Summer. A trip around Lake Superior was followed by trips to Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon.

A wise woman, she often said she wasn't so sure about a belief in Heaven or Hell, but that she believed in love.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-nine years, Chris; and her siblings, Sylvester B. Hose, Jr., Chauncey Davere Hose, and Janet Holden.

Surviving are her three sons, Kenneth (Karen) Wagner, David (Sarah) Wagner and Tim (Traci) Wagner; four wonderful grandsons, Tony, David C., Nick Neeley, and John; her sister, Sandra Anderson; a sister-in-law, Ella Alexander; and two brothers-in-law, Delmar (Betty) Wagner and Richard (Pearl) Wagner.

Graveside committal services will be announced when arrangements are finalized.
