Sene Siakhasone, 61, passed away on March 9, 2022, after a long arduous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Sommaly; son, James and Dr. Leybie Ang Siakhasone; daughter, Sumita and Steven Baccam; uncle, Soukanh; siblings, Say and Sorn; six grandchildren, Theodore, Tate, Tara, Blake, Bryson, Brayden; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
On April 8, 1960, in Vientiane, Sene was born in Laos to his loving parents Bounpheng and Khampheng Siakhasone. Early in life, he emigrated to America to make a new life in Iowa away from the hardships of communism. His first job was working for Jaarsma Bakery in Pella. During this time he married the love of his life Sommaly in which they celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary before Sene's passing. Shortly after in 1984 he moved to Michigan where he worked as a skilled welder with his CNC certification.
An avid and enthusiastic outdoor man, Sene loved fishing, hunting, and outdoor adventures. During his final summer, he was able to go fishing, swimming, and boating with the grandkids. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family all over the world.
The funeral will take place from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Avenue NE, Grand Rapids.
