Scott V. Gunnell, age 56, of Cedar Springs, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 29, 2011 at his mothers home in Trufant under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice.
The son of Thomas & Judith (Workman) Gunnell, he was born on September 19, 1955 in Greenville. Scott had worked as a welder and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Marc Gunnell; and by a son, Nicholas Zylman. Surviving are two sons, Michael (Christy) Velting and Marcus Gunnell, all of Cedar Springs; a daughter, Mandy (Brandon) Grooms of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; his grandchildren, Brayden Velting, and Hunter, Hannah & Haley Grooms; his mother and step-father, Judy & Jack Carpenter of Trufant; a sister, Tammy (Dennis) Frandsen of Cedar Springs; a brother, Brent Gunnell of Ralph; a special friend, Darla; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A time of food and fellowship will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5th at the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church, 140 S. Main Street. Scotts friends are also invited to join the family to celebrate his life from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5th at the Tri-County Eagles, 32 W. Lake Street, Sand Lake.
