Scott Flashaar

August 7, 1966 — December 19, 2015

Scott Alan Flashaar, age 49, of Greenville, passed away Saturday evening, December 19, 2015 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville after suffering a sudden heart attack. The son of Ronald F. & Patricia Lou (Cory) Flashaar, he was born on August 7, 1966 in Greenville and was a 1984 graduate of Greenville High School. Together with his wife, Cheryl Lynn (Batchelder) Flashaar, they owned and operated Mid-Michigan Chevy Parts which supplied used and refurbished automotive parts, and had also worked as promoters for the Great Lakes Outlaw Modified racing series. Scott had a life long passion for stock car racing and was a crew chief for many years. A member of the First Congregational Church of Greenville he will be remembered by his family and friends for his "heart of gold" and willingness to help those he loved. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Flashaar of Greenville; his parents, Ron "Bud" & Pat Flashaar of Greenville; two sisters, Brenda & Keith Saladin of Grand Rapids and Angela & Bryan Garvey of Greenville; his "adopted" son, Doug Baird of Greenville; his mother-in-law, Judith & Dan Fick of Moran; a sister-in-law, Holly Zeller of Orleans; several aunts and uncles; six nieces and nephews; and many, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Arnold Batchelder in July of 2012; and by a nephew, Chad Saladin on December 19, 2012. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the First Congregational Church, 126 E. Cass Street, Greenville, with the Rev. Ian Macdonald officiating.
