Obituary

Sarah Kay Hayner-Flanagan, age 66, of Morley, Michigan, passed away early Sunday morning, April 12, 2026, at The Orchards of Big Rapids, with her family by her side and under the care of Corewell Health Hospice.

The daughter of Bruce Percy Flanagan & Mary (McCormick) Nead, she was born on March 9, 1960, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Percy Flanagan.

Surviving are her mother, Mary Nead; her children, Michael (Jenn) Flanagan, Andrea Flanagan, Raelyne (Rodney) York, Megan (Tim) White, Dakota Peterson, and Melissa Hardy; many grandchildren; her life partner, Alan Hardy; two brothers, Dennis Flanagan, and Mark Flanagan; a sister Sheila (Ted) Schneider; and many nieces and nephews.

Sarah worked in many establishments as a cook and later managed the McDonald’s in Lakeview for several years. Always known for her cooking skills, she will long be remembered for her awesome banana bread.

She loved spending time with all her grandchildren and spoiling them rotten. She and Alan enjoyed their time together, taking the jeep out for a Sunday trip, crossing the Mackinaw Bridge on a motorcycle ride, and just enjoying the outdoors and camping. Sarah was a staple to stop by and have an afternoon cocktail with the community at the local watering holes.

A celebration of life will take place at the Morley American Legion with a date and time to be announced later.
