Sandra Vanlaan

Sandra Lynne VanLaan, of Sparta, passed away peacefully, with loved ones by her side, on March 9, 2021, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and E.J. Joppe. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, George. Also surviving are her children, Wayne and Deb VanLaan, Gary VanLaan, Kelly and Scott DeYoung, Tim and Carol VanLaan and Nathan and Louane VanLaan. She will also be missed by 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren as well as siblings and families and many more who loved her. A private family service will take place, and plans will be made for a memorial service at a later date. The family would like to thank the loving staff at Edison Christian Health Services in Grand Rapids. They went above and far beyond this past year, being there for Sandy when her family couldn't be.
