Sandra Race

January 8, 1939 — February 26, 2025

Sandra Jane (Rector) Clay Race, age 86, of Belding, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home under the care of Corewell Health Hospice. The daughter of Lewis Albert & Mary Jane (Hoyt) Rector, she was born January 8, 1939 in Grand Rapids. Sandra found pleasure in hand-raising and showing birds, and when she got ribbons of success, that was the cream on top. She enjoyed spending time watching Westerns, Game shows, Tiger's Baseball and the Detroit Lions. Sandra is survived by her nine children, Sherri Clay, Tony (Lauri) Clay, Linda Clay, Terri Clay, Scott Clay, Jennifer Clay, Melody (Josh) Anes, Jeffery (Marci) Clay, and Andrew (Susie) Clay; twenty-eight grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Sandra's life will take place in April. The family would like to send a sincere "Thank You" to Senior Millage, Elders Helpers, Reliance CCP Sheila, Shelly, and Lavonne for all your help and encouraging words. Also, a wholehearted, "Thank you to Clay Street Center for the wonderful care you gave my Mom while she was able to attend." The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to her Corewell Health Hospice Team, Paige, April, Alex and Steve, for their help and care throughout this difficult time, and for making it possible for her to remain at home throughout her final days as she had hoped for.
