Candace Ebbinghaus writes with a heavy heart to announce the passing of her beloved husband, Ryan E. Ebbinghaus, on Friday, April 4th, 2025. Born in Lake Linden, Michigan, on October 4th, 1967, Ryan was a loving, funny, thoughtful, and courageous man who touched the lives of many in his 57 years.
His amazing smile, contagious laugh, and gentlemanly demeanor were his signature, making every room he entered a bit brighter. As the poet Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Ryan embodied this sentiment, always lending a helping hand and being a steadfast friend to those he cared about.
Ryan lived a fulfilling life as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He married the love of his life, Candace, on July 28th, 2001, and together they created a beautiful life in Haslett, Michigan. Ryan was an accomplished HVAC professional, but his true passion lay in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman and loved nothing more than spending time with his cherished granddaughter, Tegan. The Friday night date tradition with Tegan (and grandma) was a highlight of his week, a testament to his love for family. Ryan's love for fishing was perhaps only surpassed by his love for his wife and granddaughter.
Ryan is survived by his wife, Candace Ebbinghaus; his father, James Ebbinghaus and his wife Judy; his mother, Theresa Ebbinghaus; his step-daughter, Mandy, and her husband Jeff; and his step-son, Devin, and his wife Ingrid. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those he has touched with his unwavering kindness and compassion. In the words of A.A. Milne, "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."
