Ruth (Richards) Seeba, age 88 of rural Stanton, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014. The daughter of James & Esther (Whalley) Richards, Jr., she was born on July 27, 1925 in Henderson, Michigan. In 1944, Ruth married Henry Seeba and together they raised a family based on love and caring.
Ruth was a master crafter. She delighted in turning "trash" to treasures for her family and friends to enjoy. Along with her clever knack of crafting, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, plastic canvassing, and quilting. Ruth was an avid Detroit Tigers fan-referring to them as "her boys" and trying to never miss a game. Nothing was more important to her though, as her desires to be near her family...including her and her husband's annual trip to North Dakota for their family reunions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Henry in June of 1993; a daughter Betty Ellias in 1997; siblings, Max, Mary, Jay and May June; and a son-in-law, Gary Brail in October of 2007.
Surviving are her children, Lois Brail of Muir; Larry & Julie Seeba of Hale; Donna Duncan of River Rouge, Michigan; and Connie Mixter of Tucson, Arizona; many grand children and great grand children and two great great grand children.
Honoring Ruth's wishes, cremation has taken place and her life will be celebrated on Saturday May 3 from 2-5 p.m. at the First Christian Church Annex (138 Garden Street, Muir). Ruth's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Laura's Loving Acres, particularly Christina and Tammy, for their care and compassion, as well as the caregivers and social workers with Ionia Area Hospice.
